About My Counseling Background

I am a pre-licensed therapist working under supervision, and I bring over a decade of diverse experience in mental health and client care. After earning my master’s degree in Community Counseling in 2010, I worked across multiple settings—including an inpatient psychiatric hospital, community crisis response, child protective services, wraparound in-home services, end-of-life planning support, and nearly two years as an addictions counselor. I am also a certified clinical hypnotherapist, trained in breathwork and mind–body approaches.

For eight years, I stepped outside traditional mental health roles to work in operating rooms across the country alongside top orthopedic and neurosurgeons. That experience taught me how to stay grounded in high-stress environments, communicate with difficult personalities, and remain steady in the face of intense pressure—skills that deeply inform my work as a therapist today.

At the core of my approach is the belief that rapport, trust, and authenticity are essential to any therapeutic relationship. I show up as a real person: you may catch me swearing occasionally, sitting cross-legged (even on Zoom), or chatting about weekend plans if it helps us build connection. I’ve worked with individuals navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, and more, and I tailor therapy to the person in front of me.

Modalities I commonly incorporate include CBT, DBT, reality therapy, art therapy, breathwork, tapping, and other integrative tools to support mind–body healing. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and supported as you explore what healing and growth can look like for you.

As a pre-licensed counselor under supervision, I am currently unable to accept insurance, so my services are offered on a private-pay basis. I understand that times are tough for many people, and I believe therapy should never be inaccessible to those who need it. To support this, I offer sliding-scale options to help make counseling more affordable and attainable.

Rather than particular techniques, the far greater predictors of positive outcomes are therapeutic relationships, or counselor qualities in therapeutic relationships that capitalize on clients’ internal strengths.
